History and Future Involvement
The Nyambogo Sanitation Project aims to provide sustainable solutions to hand washing and latrine needs at Nyambogo and Dagopa Primary Schools. In August 2018 galvanized iron hand washing stations serving up to 10 students at a time were implemented at both primary schools. The current focus of the project is to design for a latrine that is lightweight enough to be moved and reused for multiple pits after each fills up, and is made of materials that are locally accessible and affordable enough for replication by the community. In August 2018, Nyambogo community members gave approval of a design with corrugated sheet metal siding and roof supported by a PVC frame. EWB-UC plans to implement latrines at Nyambogo Primary School this year.
